Mößbauer Technology Center

The Mößbauer Technology Center (MTC) brings together advanced research infrastructure and technical expertise form across the field of Physics and Bioscience at the TUM School of Natural Sciences. Our mission is to make high-end instrumentation and specialist know-how accessible to a broad community of users, enabling excellent research, technology innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Whether your are a researcher at TUM, a partner form another academic institution, or a company seeking access to unique experimental capabilities, we invite you to explore how the MTC can support your project. The MTC's instruments, infrastructure, and expertise are grouped into three complementary competence areas and are complemented by a general infrastructure comprising IT services and mechanical and electronics workshop facilities.

Imaging & Detectors

Key instruments in high-resolution optical and scanning probe microscopy and MicroCT & X-ray phase contrasting imaging as well as laboratories for optical & X-ray scattering and for the development & construction of fast particle detectors. More

Key instruments for ultra-low temperature and attosecond-science as well as testing infrastructure under ultra-low field, ultra-low radiation and ultra-low temperature conditions. More

Material Characterization & Preparation

Key instruments to facilitate solid state growth as well as infrastructure for single crystal growth & substrates, atomic level control & nanostructuring and protein expression & characterization. More

Access, Expertise, and Collaboration

The Mößbauer Technology Center (MTC) brings together the technological infrastructure across the fields of Physics and Bioscience at the TUM School of Natural Sciences within a professionally managed and staffed TUM Technology Core Facility. By providing sustainable access to advanced instrumentation and technical expertise, the MTC enables researchers to address complex scientific challenges in an interdisciplinary environment. Particular emphasis is placed on supporting tenure-track faculty members and early-career researchers through straightforward access to state-of-the-art facilities and specialist know-how. Through dedicated technical staff, the MTC promotes knowledge transfer, ensures efficient operation of the infrastructure, and facilitates access for users from a broad range of scientific disciplines. By making cutting-edge technologies widely available, the MTC fosters scientific collaboration and supports excellent research with partners at TUM, throughout Germany, and internationally.
